I came across this link recently and wondered what the "master mecanics" among us thought of this modification. I was thinking of using it in conjunction with the kit from Currie that allows you to put brakes from the same car on a Versailles diff. Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks. That's kinda one of the ideas I had when we had the stock front suspension on our car. I was going to use the drum spindle and hub, use 13" cobra rotors and wilwood calipers. If you have ever looked at the kits for early mustang disc brake conversions, they have a bracket that bolts where the drum backing plate bolts on. This hold the caliper. I like what this guy has done, very easy to do from the pictures.
Eight years later, and I'm finally at the point where I'm about to buy my brake parts. Still wondering if anyone has used the technique described in this link to put late Mustang Cobra dual piston callipers on Grenada / Monarch spindles? http://www.woodyg.com/fairlane/finfo/discs66.html If not by this method, perhaps some other way? I've installed a Currie kit on my Versailles diff to run 1994-2004 Mustang Cobra callipers on the rear, and wanted to have the matching brakes up front if possible. Any input from a voice of experience? Thanks. John B
Have you seen Mustang Steve's kit for drum spindles? I have not used them, but seem to be quite popular on the web.
I used this setup. My pics are in my gallery. I modified the bracket so I could use the larger crown vic rotors. The drawings I found were for the stock Maverick rotor. If you don't mind making the brackets, it gives you several options.
