My shifter cable decided to go out on my today..now it will only go in reverse. Any ideas on how to keep my next cable from melting on me?

Keep away from intense heat. :D

Maybe some header wrap for the cable. Make sure the cable is routed away from high heat sources. Fasten it in numerous places so it stays put and doesn't come in contact with the exhaust.

It was mounted above my trans. so i didnt think it would melt that fare from the exhaust. I order some wrap with the cable today so i hope that does the trick.

    Thanks for you help.

Does it look like it touched the exhaust? Do you have a full exhaust system or just open headers?

make sure you have a good body to chassis ground. if not it will use the cable for a ground path and it never works out well, it will melt and buggar things up
