After 3 long months my 73 is ready to painted. I just have one question. Is the stock paint color metallic? Or is there anything I need to know of the paint I should use. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

It could be metallic. Hard for any of us to say without knowing what color your car is...or the paint code.

Mine was the same color but the previous owner painted it gold. Found it under the trunk hood. Nice color. What color is you interior?

Painting metallic can be a booger but can look awesome. A good uniform technique is needed to avoid "tiger stripes"--particularly with single stage. Read up on it if you're going to take it on yourself.

there are so many cars that i see at car shows that have tiger stripes. colors like silver, gold, and blue are the most common. if you are not exsperianced with painting metallics do not paint your car yourself. its not worth it exspecialy with the cost of materials. that is just my opinion.

I saw a Silver 68 Mustang the other day, you could see the striping in the sun...it was a nice car, but it had a horrible paint job.

someone tryed to paint my sons car silver and it looks like crap.metallics are way harder than solid colors.i remember my first one,i was painting an amx viper blue.it took me 9 coats to get it right and i still had alittle tiger strips in the lower rear quarter.heres some pics of his car.its sad because if the paint was better we wouldnt be stripping it.the last one is my car.its all flake.the color is obtained with just flake mixed with clear coat.
