I just put the Lokar C4 kickdown cable on mine. Seems to work OK but maybe a little stiffer than the original rod.

If you use it, you might just want to use it with the original length. The housing and the cable can both unravel when you cut them making it hard to get it re-assembled.

This is the cable I used. http://www.jegs.com/i/Lokar/625/KD-20C4HT/10002/-1?parentProductId=

I also needed a carb bracket kit because the Quick Fuel carb doesn't have a kick down lever. The carb bracket was designed to be used with their throttle kit and wouldn't work with the stock throttle cable. Had to mod it some.

Suggest you call Lokar and tell them what engine, carb and transmission you have and they should be able to tell you exactly what you need.

I have that lokar cable also. I tried to install it and had no luck. It was to long. I purchased all the brackets and still no luck. I think my problem might be that I don't know what position to install it in. Can anyone chime in with some install advice? Thanks...

I thought I might have this problem when I installed mine so I went to my local bicycle shop and got some crimp on cable end covers. I cut the cable a little long in case I ever have to take it off. I can just cut it off and reinstall another cover.

The installation instructions that come with the cable are your best advice. It loops back over the rear of the transmission and then up to the carb. Don't see any good reason to shorten it.
