Hi every one I swap from 250ci to 302co in my comet 75 and doesn't have any fire from coil. Sparkplug, sparkplug wire, coil and distributor are brand new so I look at the negative born of the coil to se if I got tak signal, and surprise I don't have it so now it's to far for my knowledge so if any one have a idea or any tips or tricks I'll realy apreciate or if someone could give me a little classe on how work electronique control box that's be very usefull or what I should test at the end of connector .

It's been two years I don't drive my comet and I'm so near :smash: :smash: HELP MEEEEEEE :smash: :smash:
    Need more info just ask
    Thanks
    David

I am going to think you are not using all bone stock components. Aftermarket right? I believe the 75's had the solid state ignition. Something that needs 12 volts is not getting 12 volts. What I dont know is what components you are using. What distributor are you using? If it is aftermarket it will state boldly where 12 volts go. I hope this helps, at least a little.

    update

As dan request here's the configuration:
    accel blueprint distributor
    accel chrom coil
original granada 1977 (as engine) electronic box

But Dan your talking about 12v so when I test at coil + and - I've got 10v and when I unplug the distributor connector on the electronic module side all tree wire give 10V when key is on   wish it help

    I include a wiring picture

Possibly the voltage drops to 10v in this setup, maybe that is the way it should be. I dont know anything about accel stuff. Is that wiring diagram from Accel? Is their reference to the ignition module in our terms and your use the duraspark box? I am pretty sure the setup will work with a duraspark, but do you know if the durapark is good? What voltage do the wires show when key is in Start position? Of course you will need a helper to turn key to start position, and be careful of moving parts when testing wires for voltage when doing this. Basically in a nutshell you have no fire, no fire = no start due to either no voltage output to key component, or no ground.

and another thought, once a buddy was having same problem as you. I went over, fixed his problem, he forgot to put rotor in distributor and could not see the forest for the trees lol

    forgot rotor:

done that myself. Felt like a complete idiot, but once again--lesson learned.

    update

the wiring diagram isn't from accel is a wiring diagram from the net for ford 302 with electronic ignition and is the same setup than mine. The ignition module is from the engine donor car a granada 1977 so all the ignition setup folow with engine except the wiring does it matter?? And as info I change the original coil and distributor to resolve the same problem so with original setup, no tach at negative coil born.

Can you explain me what is a duraspark ignition system??? what it mean??

I don't test wires at start position cause as you say I need a helper and don't had one last weekend cause I only can work on my car on week end so may be if someone can test it and return to me with value of distributor wiring at start position.

I tried to ground the electronic module and no it doesn't work neither.

Other question what does the ignition module cause I understand points setup so what does this box???

And yes the rotor is in but with no rotor I should have tach ?? no ??.

Someone can explain me what signal or voltage should I found on the wires from ignition module I'm talking about the orange, purple and black wires cause I suppose that the red and with wire is the power.

ok this is the end of the novel for today so give all your knowledge for ignition system my brain is ready to absorb:smash: :smash:

    Thanks
    David

the duraspark box is the ignition module in the schematic. You need to either email, or call Accel for a technician to email you or explain to you how to wire. With our cars as old as they are I am certain you did not get any instructions like that with the distributor. I would leave it up to Accel on how to wire correctly, they have the info.

There are 4 versions of this control module from 74 to 77.
They have different cable and pin arrangements as well as some color code differences.
The modules used in different years are cabled so they could not be interchanged.
There is a 76 model that first uses the pulse pickup in place of points.
There is a Dura Spark I and II.
The I model was used mostly on Ca. cars and had variable coil saturation (dwell) ability.
The II model is mostly higher energy to the coil resulting in hotter spark.
All but the 74-74 used a pulse pickup.
The later units all use the larger cap and rotor due to the higher energy produced.
You need to find out which you have and be sure the connecting cable to the dist is the correct one.
The color code white is the start lead direct from the ignition switch, the red is the run lead from a resistor in the cable to the run connection at the ignition switch.
The black, purple, orange leads are from the dist.
The green is from the coil in all versions.
The 74-75 module uses a blue lead, the later one don't have.
Hope this is of some help to you.
