My interest in the forum is for the need to help my son with finding parts and such for his 1974 Comet 2-door. Grabbed the body for 1000.00 with easy transfer of title. Upon checking engine discovered a thrown rod. My brother in law being an expert engine builder (Tim McMaster the Y-Block Guy) gave us a 250 4.1L Special. Basically extended to a 257 with higher compression, race cam, new headers. It sounds a little throaty and runs like a top. We have upolstery work to do. Steering column is messed up. Just received a replacement Fuel tank. We are excited. My son has been paying for all this but I have been helping with research and giving a hand with the labor. It has been great being part of my sons first car project. Nice part about it is he will have a classic car fully paid for and with a special engine built by his uncle.
Welcome from Texas. Where do you live? I have steering columns and other parts you may need. I will ship parts. Check out this website for the I6 performance: http://www.classicinlines.com/products.asp?cat=73 fordsix.com Rick
from Northeast Pennsylvania Cool sounding project - you don't often see people working up the 6 cylinder to that point
I use to live in Chula Vista, right behind the old Crower Cams in 1968. Won third place in the Imperial Beech , sand castle building contest, that year.
Here are the steering columns I have. View attachment 52200 View attachment 52201 View attachment 52202 View attachment 52203 View attachment 52204 PM sent to you. Thanks, Rick
The Ecology in Chula Vista has a 75 Comet as well as a 76 Maverick as of today. Both are 2-doors and 6-cylinders. One has a mostly complete tan interior. Hope this helps you some.
