here is Safelite auto glass, and the said they only use urethane sealer on windshield installations, I questioned him on it and told him I would like to retain the ability to remove the windshield in the future and save the gasket for the reinstallation, he said I would be able to do so, I don't know I am not a glass tech, but from what I have read on the net, the urethane is an adhesive sealer and removal will be very difficult if not impossible to do and save the gasket, (seal) he stated it would peel right off the rubber when I want to remove it, anyone know/heard anything different? :16suspect

I see no reason to have to save the gasket after its installed, id be happy as long as it doesn't leak jmho

Urethane is the not the right thing, Liquild Butyl sealer is what you should
use, 3M 08509 sealer is good too. The urethane can make you windsheild
break because there is no room for the glass to move

Safelite auto glass told me..."we don't install windshields in Maverick/Comets."

Urethane has to be cut to remove a window. Its not for our gasket type installs. Better go elsewhere.

I called 5 glass company's here in Ocala, 5 out of 5 said no... I got the butyl sealer from napa and I'm going to install my own glass... DO NOT LET ANYONE USE URETHANE on your mav or comet.... Or buy the 3M sealer from napa and see if they will use it instead, when they do the install...

Yep and if the urethane gets on the trim during install, it would be a big PITA to try and get it back off without destroying it.

2 completely types of installation. Using urethane to install a Maverick windshield makes as much sense as stopping my Autozone to have your Maverick scanned for codes.
