MY BUDDY IS GOING TO INSTALL A T-5 IN HIS 74 MAV SOON(I HOPE). IT IS A COLUMN SHIFT CAR, NOW I HAVE A FLOOR SHIFTER WITH THE HUMP FROM A DONOR CAR I FOUND LAST YEAR. CAN I USE THIS FLOOR HUMP & JUST INSTALL THE T-5 SHIFTER ARM THRU THE TOP OF IT? WILL THE HOLE HAVE ENOUGH SPACE FOR ALL THE SHIFTING OF THE T-5? OR IS IT BETTER TO JUST FORGET THE HUMP & CUT A HOLE & INSTALL THE ARM THAT WAY? WE ARE GOING TO USE A NICE LINCOLN VERSAILLES CONSOLE I FOUND ALSO THAT IS SETUP FOR A FLOOR SHIFT CAR. PEDALS: SHOULD I USE MAVERICK CLUTCH PEDALS OR IS IT EASIER TO GO ANOTHER ROUTE. WE ARE PUTTING A 89 5.0 ENGINE IT IS OUT OF A 89 STANG W/THE T-5...THANKS...
you will have to cut a hole as big as the t5 shifter body in the stock tunnel. i have no idea if the hump will line up with the t5 shifter location. there are many ways to do the clutch pedal. if you have the stock clutch pedal i would use it with a hydrolic fire wall mount slave cylinder. the http://dazed.home.bresnan.net/dazecars.html mustang kit can be made to work.
The hump will line up with the shifter and works well. I did the same thing and the hump left room to put in a lower shifter boot between it and the floor. I used a stock clutch pedal with a hydraulic setup from Modern Drivleline. They now have a setup for Mavericks.
You should pay more attention to us AZ. guys in the "Sand Box" thread in the "Other Clubs and Events" section. There are 3 of us that have done or are in the middle of the T5 swap. I'm the one thats in the middle and going quite slow. I think putting in the hump wouldnt be needed but like 71M8743 said it wold be nice to use to put in 2 upper and lower boots like in a Fox body Mustang. If the ca ris a manual then just buy a kit to go to the pedal and save the headache. If the car was auto then youll have to get the mastercylinder and pedal assembly, I think weve all used a CNC reverse swing pedal asselby. You should read Mashori's tech article on the T5 swap to get an idea of whats needed.
