There's an easy fix to run them safe on our cars, but still why would anyone run them is beyond me. They cost more than Gabriels, which I have no complains on. Running them both on the Falcon and Maverick.
I am doing some research into changing out my shocks and I was wonderin. Would I need anything else to install KYB's on my 74 comet? Or can I just throw them in without having to change anything else?
i went with monroe..only thing i could order for my car besides going online and the shipping on those was more then both monroe shocks.
Bilsteins! Part no. 24184731.. I will be buying them for the Maverick soon.. Some pictures I have seen show that they will fit, however others show that the bottom is an eyelet mount.. If not then I'll just return them.
I guess the monroes are great if you are just looking for a stock ride, I like the roadhandling of the monotubes allot better then the almost new front gabriels I threw away that came with the car.
My origional Comet was a 73 LDO. I started driving that around 1982ish. Had the air shocks on not long after I got it. When that one was totaled I moved them over to the GT. That was sometime around 1990. Drove the GT till 97. That's when we moved here to OK and I was working about 80 miles one way and we got a newer car, a 94 Corolla. I did do the long drive for about 3 or 4 months then my mom asked me to take over payments on the Corolla. That was a blessing cause the GT was either cold or hot, exhaust was tireing to listen to for so many hours and the radiator was begining to cause problems. So "many years" to me is around 14-15.
I may have an extra set of the KYB Gr2 rears if you still need them. I'm in the Marietta, GA area. They aren't too stiff and feel like a good quality gas shock to me.
