Has anyone ever considered putting the quarter panel scoops off an old Mustang Mach 1 onto a mav? It would take some pretty extreme bodywork, but it might look pretty good. Do we have any photoshop experts out there that could graft the scoops onto a mav body and post what it looks like? Thanks.

I got a set for that very reason. Problem is they have a pretty pronounced verticle curve that would make it damn near impossible to use. Unless of course your one of those metal working genius. However. the front fender scoops on a 78 Trans Am will work almost perfectly. I have a set of those too and plan on trying them out on my next junk car. I have seen them on a couple of Mavericks mounted on the front fender, just like the Trans am. If you switch sides and move them to the back, they are a perfect fit.

Funny that you should mention those. I'm building a Shelby phantom, and since all Shelbys had side scoops I was looking for something to use to that end. I came up with the idea of using '69-'70 Shelby convertible scoops (which are normally mounted about the same place as the Mach I scoops are), but putting them down in the dogleg, between the door and wheel opening. They're a bit smaller than the Shelby coupe scoops, which also mount on the dogleg. I've compared, and the Mustang has more space there than the Mav. I'm just afraid of ordering a set, and finding out that for some unforseeable reason, they don't fit or look good. I can't afford to get stuck with a set of scoops I can't use. Anyone have a set to try out? John B.

I've never liked those but to each his own.

I like the '69 BOSS Mustang because it does not have them.

Someone posted a pic with those on their Maverick. It was during the resto stage I believe.

John B, I had the same idea, but it seemed like an awfully expensive experiment--seems like they're going for like $75.00 per side if I remember right. I also think they would be a little talll to fit between the rocker/quarter seam and the bodyline. But they could probably be made to fit, being fiberglass.

Look again. The '69 BOSS did not have them. All other '69s did have them...

I think they chop up the relatively clean lines of the car. Also, as said, they are too big to fit into the body lines. Not the best mod, in my opinion.
