just got my maverick back from the shop, timing done, carb done-ish, points done, starting switch done-ish. if uve read my first post i did i explained tht my ignitions electronics was severly out of whack. course tht was months ago and now we figured out the problem. (which i never woodve saw coming) the ignition switch where u turn the key actually has a spring tht pushes the small switch rod back a little bit once the car has started. mines missing, thus making the starter catch and keep turning. though it still grinds a bit when u first start it, the starter doesnt stay open and it shuts off when u turn off the car unlike wat it did originally. next thing on the list is upper and lower control arm and anti-sway bar, front brake ajustment and finally toe and camber adjustment. does anyone have any suggestions on a way to adapt the front suspension for disc brakes? maybe a whole different k member from a compatible newer car. something i can bolt on without having to buy a 1000+ dollar brembo kit haha!

Just use MAverick or Granada disc brakes and spindles.

More than likely there is some damage left behind on the flywheel teeth or starter drive from the past problem that is now repaired. You're OK if it doesn't get worse and doesn't leave you stranded by not starting. I would maybe pull the starter some time in the future and inspect those starter and flywheel teeth. :thumbs2:

I heard about the Granada and thtll prolly be easier to find in my area but wat about this thing I've been hearing where u can take a foxbody k member and bolt it on, disc brakes already assembled? Myth or no?

I do plan on buying a new starter just to be safe, in the near future, I've got a warranty on it. While I'm at it I'll remember to check the flywheel.

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
Hell no! It is not close to being bolt in at all.

The nearest thing to being "bolt in" is the AJE K member.

Russ had pictures on his thread but they're no longer working, best bet is to contact him for the info.

www.mustangsteve.com for the brake conversion if you want better brakes, problem there is that you need bigger wheels then :)

The whole thing with this particular car is to make it my daily driver which includes good mpgs, a round of disc brakes, newer efi motor and if i evr find the money and time, abs brakes which has been done! For u non believers out there haha! So I'll prolly upgrade to 18's or 19's in front and 19's or 20's in the back
