National Parts Depot sells MOOG. Lowers 3078-3C $56.25/ea I just looked at the newest catalog, and they don't list uppers
You are never going to feel stable with the alignment you got...it's outdated because its for a bias ply tire car. Need waaaay more castor. if you are running modern tires. Tell them you need 2 degrees positive castor 1 degree neg camber and 1/16 toe in (each side) You will love the difference. Castor is what makes the car track straight at freeway speeds and not wander constantly havingto adjust like this;
This man speaks the truth. In the four years I've had my Maverick, I've had to get it aligned three times due to some change I've made. The first two, I just let the alignment shop do their thing and the car felt ok. This last time I actually talked to the tech who did the job about the mods I've made, handed him the specs I was trying to achieve based on my wide radial tires, power steering, and the Shelby drop, and the difference was huge.
I will replace the lower and upper control arms that come as one solid peace with the bushings. All the parts I have bought so far have been MOOG and thats really all I trust for steering products. Theres a few other brands I have never heard of and MOOG seems to be in middle for price.
Yeah I know im not looking forward to it! But I couldnt get the plastic thing that sits on the springs and seperates the metal from rubbing against each other so it would be a good idea to fix that as well. The steering is still very scary anywhere from 10-50 is ok, but when I hit the gas and get up to 80 its all over the road if I hit a bump or just trying to go straight it wonders like crazy. I have cars that stay far away from me.
The alignment you had done was a waste of money with worn parts replace the bad items and have a performance alignment done 3-4* positive caster (as much as possible without rubbing) .5-1.0 negative camber 1/8th-1/4 toe in Make sure the specs are matched side to side a slight variation for road crown is ok in the camber but no more the .25* in the caster toe should be matched I've had great tire wear at these specs and will be the best single thing that can be done If the shop won't do this go somewere that will.
Well I needed the car on the road asap. My inner part of my tires kept getting eatin, road was hungry. Went through 2 sets of tires in 1 month so it needed an alignment badly. Good year has a 1 year or 12,000 warranty on their alignment and they told me once I buy the parts and replace the remaing steering componets to bring it back and they would re-align it for free. Only paid $52.99 I will have them set it to these specs in a month or so after the new parts.
i'm very happy with the Moog quality.. my friend ordered the cheaper "front end set" from Mustang Unlimited or Ohio Mustang and the upper arm complete had really floppy joints.. as were all their stuff.. The Moog stuff is just like oem.
