Hey guys, I have an oil leak on my 200 I6, and I think that I narrowed it down to around the fuel pump. I was thinking maybe the fuel pump gasket so I pulled the pump. The gasket doesn't look bad at all, but I bought a new one so I'll put it on and see what happens. But as I was cleaning up the fuel pump, some oil leaks out of the small rectangular "hole". See picture attached. Clean it up, more oil comes out. So my question: Is it normal for oil to come out that opening?
    Thanks for your help,

There should never be oil coming from that hole.

No! Check your breather and your PCV valve. You're getting too much crankcase pressure buildup. That little hole is a vent for the diaphragm in the fuel pump. If it was an old pump, I would say it was bad, but I see it's new. Check those two items and that should cure your problem! You may just have a lot of blowby in your engine too. That's an expensive fix! Regardless, a little oil coming out that vent won't hurt a thing! :)

    Thanks baddad.
Simple man, it's not a new pump, it's the one that was on the car when I bought it, I just cleaned it up real good. The Mat has a new PCV valve in it, what else should I check?
I poured some water in the cavity of the pump and it poured right out that rectangular opening. Which is a bad thing, correct? A new pump is in order, right?
    Thanks,

Sometimes oil will run down the pump lever and cause that if the pump's internal seal is starting to leak. Although, I once had a brand new Edelbrock pump that did that. Shot oil all over my engine compartment. Their fix was to try and sell me a special $50 gasket that fit over the lever. But that's another story...

My bad! You did a good cleanup job! Yeah, get a new pump. There is a little seal on the diaphragm shaft that went South! :)
It was nice ( back in the day ) when the fuel pump would come apart so you could replace the little 50¢ seal!

It's a weep hole. I replaced mine about a year ago. It was doing the same thing. I had tied a rag around it for a day or two until I could go get my new pump. Just so you know, there also one of those hole on the bottom of most water pumps and will start pissing out of there when that eventually starts going bad. Those are just little helper indicators to let you know they are going bad.

Actually it's there to equalize the air pressure above the diaphram as it moves up and down.
