when I push the drivers side tire forward the drive shaft spins and my passenger tire goes in reverse. The eventually forward. Does that mean anything
Ive never tried this but I think you may want to do it to see if the pump is working. You can remove one of the trans. cooler lines from the radiator and put a rubber hose on it and lead it to a catch pan. Start the car and see if you get fluid pumping out of it. If the convertor is seated correctly into the pump and the pump is good, and you have line pressure then it should pour fluid out into the pan.
You would want to unhook the front line on the transmission, it is the pressure side the rear one is the return.
I've checked the dip stick up and down. Not only up. I just unhooked the cooling lline and its on dripping wwhen on
Check the fluid level on both sides of the dipstick. I've had times when one side of the dipstick is reading high and the other is reading low. One side can pick up oil off the dipstick tube.
Well I'm sure it was seated correctly when we put everything together. I'm about to check the dip stick again
of every thing you have said, the amount of atf is the consistent problem. when i put a new trans and converter in i will put 4 quarts of fluid in then start the car then put the rest of the specified capacity in. the trans needs to be running to be able to pump the fluid into the converter which holds most of the atf. also the trans needs to be close to level to get an accurate reading on the dip stick. sense you have started and have the motor running the 4 quarts you have put into the trans should have been pumped out of the pan and into the converter. if you still cant put any more fluid in then you have defiantly not engaged the pump when you put your converter in. it is possible that you have damaged the pump and even damaged the transmission from running it with out the pump working.
