the other day i went to get my front end aligned on my 76, 250 i6, mav. and it turns out that i need a new a frame i think or a frame bushings, any way i looked around the internet but i can't find anything does any1 know where i can get one.....
Yo, Mav76, What you may need is "A"-frame bushings. They're inexpensive and relatively easy to replace. Firsy spend $12-15 for a proper manual, readily available at most any auto supply store or book store. You'll then have a good referance for all future mechanical projects. These upper control arms have eccentrics which, when turned change the alignment settings i.ei caster and camber. If the bushings are too worn, the settings will not remain constant.
The eccentric is in the lower control arm on these cars, not the upper. This is used to change camber. The caster is changed by adjusting the strut rod length.
mav76, if you put the upper a frame bushings in, it would be a good time to put in the 90 degree zert fittings. also be very very careful removing the springs. i have had good luck with the "inside" spring compressor...frank... p.s. check the upper ball joint while you have it out. the lower control arm has the ball joint as an assy. the spring perches are there too so they can be replaced at the same time. g/l and "safty first".
yeah i need both upper and lower ball joints, new front shocks, the a frame bushings, the rack and pinions, and i some kinda spring seat i'm going to try to buy them all then one weekend put them all on, right now the inside of my front tires get worn out till the wires are showing in about a month
i'm at the can. mustang site right now, is there a year mustang front end i should look for or what??
1972 will work. Get the complete kit with the pre-assembled upper and lower A-arms.....makes it real easy.
