Anyone out there ever get a glass hod that actually fit right and was well made?
I'd like one, but there are too many horror stories floating around to choose a company.
    UP22 is right out.

i've got one from us body. i'm happy with the quality, however if you want it to match exactly, it dosen't. the back of the hood is fliatter than the original and sits lower than the cowl. other than that it is a good hood for a race car. :)

I bought my Grabber hood from Crites Restorations here in Ohio. Really nice for a fiberglass piece, and I am able to use my stock latch. Nice people that are very helpful and REALLY into Fords.

Thanks fellas. Keep 'em coming folks! I'm probably going to get one coming this winter and want to make an informed decision.

if your looking for a hood i am doing the carbon fiber ones now! they will be the 3 inch cowl ones just like the one on my car. if you don't like the way it looks you can always paint it!

just so you know they fit with no cutting / fixing and in some cases you don't even need to paint it, will bolt right on with no need for hood pins and ten times stronger and lighter then any fiberglass crap out there!

    just figure this out:

cowl hood from US body = $489.00 check out yourself http://www.usbody.com/

shipping = $125.00 to $150.00 remember its gotta go by truck!
fixing and cutting the fiber glass crap cuz it don't fit worth quat! = $150 bucks
match paint the hood right! = $150.00 to $200.00

ok now you have a hood thats got $989.00 bucks into it! personally i don't think thats right for what you get! even so, just the hood door to door alone with out fixing it would cost $639.00.

besides the thing will crack if you got a car that rummbles and rattles all the time! i'm sure others have run into this problem! if not your lucky or your car don't have a big enough cam... :p

    sound intrested i would :D

if you want one there is at least a min of a 4 month lead time with deposit and balance when shipped!... sorry i can't get them out any faster then that. it worth the wait... if your wondering how it looks and how it fits in person?ask anyone on the boards thats seen my car in person they can tell you!

cost! whats the cost you say?

    $789.00!!!!!

plus shipping most likey $150 bucks

    total = $939.00

to much you say? think about it? what will you end up paying for your glass hood? or you can go get a carbon fiber one make yourself that someone will charge you at least $2500 bucks just for the mold!

    let me know.

Derrick. That is a good price for that hood and I agree with all your logic as well.
Trouble is I don't want a 3" cowl nor do I have a grand to sink into a hood. I'm considering making one, but if I could find one for a few hundred that'll fit pretty well I'll nail it.
Are you doing the manufacturing on the carbon units yourself? How about some fenders and doors?

i hear ya.. sorry only thing i got going on is the 3" cowl. and yes even 600 buck for a hood is a bit much.. probably worth more them most mavericks :D

as far as units no i have a friend that does them. as far as fenders and doors i don't think we will do that. however i was thinking along more the lines of trunks, front and rear lower valances since people are always in need of thoses and maybe grabber spoilers since no one has any of thoses that fit right either.

Derrick; if you do the valences, are you going to notch them for exhaust or fog/backup lights? Be a real improvement. Give it some thought!

    Sign me up for:
trunk lid with ducktail built in and matching quarter extensions

    front valance

rear valance (no exhaust notches in mine)

front chin spoiler (build it integral with the front valance if you like)

What do I owe you? ;)

    Decklid with integral spoiler
    Front valance with air dam
    Rear valance with exhaust notches

Whip up some side skirts and you'll have an entire Maverick kit ready to go ... just have to figure out what to name it!

    All sounds awesome!

So the hood on the car is about$1000. That is the best hood I have ever seen on a maverick. What size tires are one the car? Will the trunk lid look the same as the hood? I would like to have both.

I have a Harwood glass hood. It is purported the last one they (Harwood) made according to a local respected hot-rod fabricator. He brought it down from his dusy storage attic where'd it been for umpteen years.

    $75 :D
