I want to replace the switch but need some guidance (stock '74 302 w/factory A/C). Also a NAPA part # would help. Thanks.

I need to do the same thing, but waiting till midwest wx gets a little warmer. My car will only start in Park, and the backup lights not working. I also want to remove the sw and see what is on there now B4 I spend the money for a new sw. It may be possible the one I have is not the correct sw or the wiring is not hooked-up.

I need to make sure that's my problem for sure. I can jump start it from the solenoid but nothing from the key. Not sure what else it could be though. I would need the column shift one though...

It could be you ignition switch that is mounted down on the steering column tube is going bad or needs to be adjusted

that could be the switch on the column needs adjusting, not the N/S switch....loosen the two bolts, turn the key in the...start position... move the switch up/down and see if it fires. if nothing, could be a bad switch...:yup:

Ok, so I bought a new ignition switch...plugged it in and pushed the actuator to see if it would fire.......nothing. I did more research on the seatbelt interlock issue and don't think that's it, but I won't rule it out until done the bypass "fix".

There is a box mounted below the radio, I do believe related to the seatbelt lockout. Mine never prevented me from starting my car until the cowl leak had reached critical mass.
