Hey Guys i need your Help, I recently Came across a 460 engine in a old body shop!!!! The Guy sold it to me for 300$ My question is if i was to put the 460 in my maverick and take out the 302 would i have to do a lot to my rear end!!! or any other areas where problems would occur due to the weight!!! My mechanic says he can get the 460 to fit easily with a lil bit of cutting!! lol
    Any Help/wisdom would be appreciated:D(y) 1313262229329.jpg

little bit of cutting? try a lot...hence why there isn't that many of them in our cars. do a little search on here and you should find some more info on how your shock towers will set you back.

    here's one..theres a bunch more around here.
but if you dont want to chop it up too bad and you can get a cheap 351W it would be the easier way to go if you dont want to build a 302. you will just need to cut the towers a bit and find some headers that will fit good, either custom or..whatever someone else has used, im not sure but i assume theres a couple that would work.

I think the guy took advantage of you. Your mechanic is going to make even more money off of you now. Hope you got deep pockets. You're going to have to completely rework the front suspension (Mustang II front end), then you'll need the transmission for the 460, then you're going to need a 9 inch rearend to handle the extra power. It ain't gonna be cheap (not even if you did all the work yourself)nor easy.

Or find another body like a Torino, Fairlane, Galaxie, or pickup with a big enough engine bay to fit a 460.....

Agreed...My next Mav will be a 460 c6. My current Mav is undergoing surgery for an R&C front end. Im doing all the work myself and its gonna go past 4000.00 for what Im doing just for this one. I expect to spend past 6000.00 for the next one. dscf0096_original.jpg
