In this months Car Craft (June) there is an article of swaping a t5 into a mav. Step by step with lots of pics, used a clutch assembly from a fox bodied mustang and adapted it to the maverick brake assembly. They used a clutch cable and did it all for under $600

I just got back from picking it up.....not bad I guess. Doesn't really do much to strengthen the image of Mavericks & Comets....

Agree on the signs or whatever used to patch the gigundo holes in the floor.

Fresh orange paint on the "72" with the 73 painted front bumper. Somebody at the shop was probably relaying car info, instead of the car owner.

It needs shock tower braces. Doesn't look like it will get them anytime soon.

Very interesting tech on how the clutch pedal set-up was arrived at, to use the aftermarket Mustang quadrant and cable set-up. I would really like to see this with headers and a running car. They just offered up caution to avoid hot exhaust when routing the clutch cable.

Interesting that they showed the fabbed rear trans crossmember and that the Mav speedo gear slid right into the trans. One inch cut needed for the driveshaft.

Overall ... I give Car Craft a 4 out of 5 on the article. :thumbs2:

It's gross, whatever it is....so sad:( You would think in California of all places, it wouldn't be that hard to find a decent car...

That is a very bad swap... I did the swap into my '63 Ranchero an just used the stock linkage and bell housing with a Fox clutch plate. Notice the sources were Austin Texas...This was not a Cali car.. We don't have rust like that and mask parts off before we paint. That engine compartment was solid orange!. Must have had a lot of tractor paint left.

I didn't like the teeny fox pedals. Car Craft has turned into Car Crap ever since Freiburger left anyway.

Yeah, looks like a shoddy deal on the pedals. I would have just got a pedal set and did it right. I didn't like the cable set up he used either.
