I have a line on a Dart 8.2 deck 351W Block with 302 Mains for a good price. Can anyone tell me the differences between 302 mains and 351 mains?
I want to get a 393 stroker kit for this block if I buy it, so does the diameter of the mains meen I will need a different crank or different bearings.

Its probably not. I just dont know much about it. The guy said its a 351W he didnt say it was an 8.2 deck.

Ill rephrase the question. 302 mains are just under 2.5'', 351 mains are 3''.
Does this mean that a 351 Dart Block with 302 mains has thicker caps?
Does this Mean that in order to put a 393 stoked cranck in this block it must be ground from 3" to 2.5"?
I think Ive answered myh own question, but I would like some coments from those who are experienced.

An 8.2 deck Dart block is a 302 block. Not a 351W block. As such, a 393 stroker kit will not fit, the main journal diameter is only part of the problem, the deck height is the kicker, the math just doesn't add up for a 393.

It turns out that the block is an Iron Eagle #31385295 and the mains are 2.75 and its 9.2" of deck hieght. So Im guessin Ill use a stroker crank turned down .25".
But Im taking some calipers with me to check it out. The seller says the cylinders need to be bored.

Those are Cleveland engine specs. 9.2 deck height and the 2.75" mains are the same as a 351 Cleveland. That is what you'll order the stroker kit for. Lots of places have 393" Cleveland stroker kits. Just tell them the bore size you need, the deck height, and the main journal diameter when you order. Simple.

I take it the guy really doesnt know what he has. Thanks Bro. I thought those mains were cleveland spec. Im going to look a little deeper into this block. Im still takeing a set of calipers lights and some magnifying eqpt. He said it needed to be bored, so that raised a red flag. Is there anything specific I should look for, besides chunks of metal missing?:D

Yes, those are Cleveland specs, but if he orders a Cleveland stroker kit, it'll come with Cleveland pistons, which must be used with Cleveland heads. He can built it with Windsor heads, but he'll need to find the correct intake to use with it (9.2 deck with Windsor heads) He'll also need to make sure the heads match the coolant return ports.

If it needs boring, it will most likely have a ring ridge at the top of the bores.

I would walk from it and stay with something a little more simpler. This sounds like alot of mixing and matching of parts that will cost alot more then a stadard 351 stroker build. Unless you get this block cheap, but it didnt sound cheap in your other post,
