how do i get into the wipers and link between them i've got a passenger one that works but the driver one just rocks doesn't move
All the wiper mechanism is behind the dashboard up aboue the pedal box, Its tight to work on but possible. Check the wiper arm first incase the spline is worn out. Hope this helps Regards Phil
I bet you have a part stripped out. Happened on one of my Mavericks about 30 years ago. I removed the wiper arm and I could see where the center part of the post was turning.....but the outside part had lost it's "grip" to the center rod. I put some JB Weld on it and that fixed it for awhile. Eventually, if this is your problem, you will want to replace that entire arm under the dash. To me....it is easier to replace the entire wiper motor and assembly.
Thanks Craig Yeh the one arm you can lift and it moves around with no problem which is the arm that doesn't work Question how to I remove the arm I read about a little tab under the arm but how do I get at it when the arms don't open that much
The little tab does nothing (contrary to the urban legend ) Kind of hard to explain, but you need to pry up on the wiper on the opposite side from the arm.
Managed to get the arm off and the cog at the end of the pivot arm if I have the name correct is what is not turning properly So given that these are rare wondering is there a modern replacement option or part xchange option available
Thanks craig, Now comes the fun part getting into the linkage to replace it Although i think i've made a stupid mistake is the linkage on driver side classed as left or right. Who is the sadistic that put the wiper linkage up there. How do i get the dash off to get too it seriously the whole dashboard
You don't have to take off the dash board. You can reach it all under the dash. You will need to remove the speedometer cluster and the lower dash tray/glovebox.
Ah ok thanks so it's the speedometer Cable I need to get loose mmmm this would be a good time to check those bulbs as well
