Upgraded my sons 69 1/2 to 5 lug disk brakes. Didn't think untill now about the brake valve. I whent to a 74 manual brake master cyl. 75 8 inch 5 lug rear, and 74 front disc. All new brakes and hardware. Do I need to go to a disk brake proportioning valve also?

I changed it on my car. I know others have not and said it was fine. Try it out and see how they work.

I did on 2 cars, I didn't on the first. Didn't notice any difference. Right now I have a Ford Racing adjustable for the rear and a T fitting in the front.

I added a Wilwood adjustable prop valve into the rear brake line. The added capabilities of the front brakes made it much easier to lock up the rears, so this dials them down a bit.

Keep in mind, this was presenting itself only when really pushing it to the limits, but in a panic situation, it would make the back end of the car more prone to come around on you. In thinking about my first Comet, with drums on all fours, when driven too hard, it would do that too. These cars are nose-heavy, and I think it is just a natural tendency.

Makes me wonder if rear discs would help, too. I seem to get the impression that they can add a lot of braking force without locking up the tire.... it is stuff like this that means my car will never be "done" ... always something to mess with ... (y)

I didn't change it on mine...the reason...I was told that being I had...larger dia. tires...on the rear, that was my bias...

    worked...:thumbs2:
