The place I work is right next to a fire department. In fact, the FD uses one of my employer's lots occasionally to practice opening cars like a can opener with their jaws of life.

Imagine my horror when I left the building after work to see an unwrecked yellow Maverick about to get the biz...

Now, I don't know what kind of sound I made as I gazed in horror, but it was loud enough to get the attention of a couple dozen fully equipped firemen in the middle of their safety briefing. One fireman spoke to me the next day and I explained to him that I've been looking for a decent Maverick for a project car longer than he's been on the department. He seemed amused at the fact that they made a 40-year old guy whine like a jr. high school girl...

That had to be pain ... sorry.

Had they already started? .... I would have been over there offering to dump any Craiglist beater there for them to chop up in trade for leaving that one alone, if not.

Can you pillage it for parts? If it is still around, it may have that "good hood" you might need for when you do score a car, etc. If they are just going to scrap what is left, see if you can "make a donation" in exchange for the hulk and squirrel away all the good stuff off the car .... stuff you might be able to use .... stuff other Mav guys can use, too.

Parts sales ease the pain of buying the stuff you will need for yours. It is largely how my entire project has been budgeted ... horse-trading. Keeps the wife calm about the whole idea. :thumbs2:
