I am about ready to install the engine in my 71 Comet GT. It is a HO 5.0 with a new Holley 600. I am expecting to install some side pipes, so they will be loud enough. I am debating what headers I am going to install. I have a set of Hedmans that I know will fit. I also have a set of shorties that came out of a Mustang GT. I am thinking they will fit, but not for sure. Who has done this before? What are the benefits and drawbacks of using each one? Thanks! After my paint job I will post pictures of another Comet resurrected from the grave!

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
The mustang headers will not work, fox body headers do not work on mavericks.

side pipes are always fun though :)

I was wondering if the shortie headers would work. I was thinking not. I remember trying to put them in a Comet 5 years ago...

I have hedman headers and they are fing horrible to get in and out. Eventhe starter needs a header removed to go in. Try anythingbut the headman headers ....

I have the 88300 Hedman long tube fit good, I have no problems with
fit. All long tube headers have to come off to change the starter.

Frank, you are like a detective taking a statement. Looks like you caught another perp contradicting them self! Good work. :Handshake:rofl2:
I appreciate the bold letter hi-lighting too. Thanks for the chuckle.

I just had a 5.0 put in my 77 mav and used the headman 88400 short tub headers. They were my only real option because of column shift linkage and power steering and still a tight fit on the drivers side but works.:drive:

Hooker 6901's long tubes fit well, Are pretty easy to install and I've changed 2 starters easily without removing a header.
