    Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone had tried to put intermitten wipers in their Mavs/Comets? I know some Torinos had this option in the early 70s. Do you think that the switch and delay relay box thing could be wired into the Mav system? Thanks for any info. Is the Torino switch basically the same as the Mav? IT looks like it.

Somewhere I have an old Radio Shack book that shows you how to build a delay circuit for them. Its pretty cheap. I will look for it today and post it later if I find it.

I've been pondering this one myself as well. It seems kinda silly to have just a 2 setting setup every car i've ever driven old or new has always had intermittent wipers the Mav is the first car i've ever messed with that didn't. Around here it doesn't always rain rain alot of times we get low level rain or sprinkles so it's not neccessary to run the wipers constantly. Intermittant would be a great asset here and would probably preserve the life of the wiper blades a bit longer.

I don't plan on driving my Mav in the rain when I done with it!

Thanks for the info Mavaholic. If I ever come across a Torino with inmittent wipers maybe I will try that, but the JC Whitney thing looks interesting too. Thanks for the info!

Here's another option. I saved this info from an old post re: int. wipers. I'll copy it in below:

"The hi end (xlts) 75-79 f-series trucks have an intermittent wipers that bolt right up. You just need the switch and the box, it plugs into the maverick pig tail, just make sure you hook the ground wire up because that’s what makes it work. The only problem is lack of space for the box, it will fit though. Thomas Hackmann , mav chatroom, post 9/10/01"

I was just going to write that again. I have one on my 70 mustang and the maverick and plan to put it on the new project mav. Very easy to hook up and no cuting or splicing of any kind. The switch has a reostat in one direction and the two position switch the other direction the box has the delay in it. Just unplug from the stock switch and plug into the new harness that goes to the box and switch, it's that easy, I think the hardest part is getting the instument panel out without damaging it.

Autzone sells the switch for $40 online - not sure if this includes the box ....

You guys are the best!!! No wires to cut, and plugs directly in!! Thanks a bunch. I assume that it fits right in the hole in the dash too? Man, this is awesome. Thanks a lot, and Merry Christmas!
IS it from an XLT, or an XLTS? I don't think XLTS' exist, but I may be wrong. I guess I will be on a mission after the Holidays. Thanks again.

My Stallion has delay wipers. I ordered it that way. Wonder how many other mav/comets have that option?

I'll bet not many. You should spend the bucks and get a print out from Marti Auto Works.

    Hey Guys,
Do you think a 70s Torino/Ranchero one would work? I have no idea if the wiring is the same, but the switch and everything sure looks very similar to the Mavs. Below is a picture I found somewhere on the internet of one. Let me know if you think it will work. Maybe the part numbers are the same for 75-79 XLT Trucks, as 72-79 Torinos/Ranchero. Thanks.

Another thought... Does anyone have a picture of the switch and delay box from a 75-79 XLT Truck? Or know where to find one? Thanks.
