My automatic floor shifter in my '72 Grabber was loose so I tried to tighten the nut at the base of the shifter rod by taking out the rubber access plug under the car. After about a half a turn it snapped off!! I wonder if Ford sells the lever or if a Mustang is the same and is sold by a Mustang shop? Does anyone have one that they will be willing to sell?

Nick, you're such an animal .... :biglaugh:

The entire Mustang shifter units look the same as Mav/Comet from what I have seen.... don't know for sure if the stick is the same, but I would think they would be.

I have a Pinto or Mustang II shifter here .... looking at it right now. The stick looks like that piece shown on eBay. No wonder the adjustment nut snapped off if it is brass like the one here. The Pinto/MII shifter is narrower than 71-73 Mustang/Mav/Comet, but I suspect the guts are the same.

I used a '67 Mustang shifter on mine, when it was an auto. It is smaller than the Mav shifter, the handle is bent back a bit, but it sits well on the tunnel.

Thanks everyone for the kind words and advise. Dave, the ebay picture is not what broke, it is what that bolts to. I fixed it last night with a welder, file, and a die. It was worn out and I needed to add some washers to take up the slack. I should have taken it apart and added washers before I cranked down on it snapping the bolt. I lost a couple hours of my life fixing it.

Lost ? Or found a couple hours to spend with your car? I would like to think the later :yahoo: Then again its the only thing that keeps me sane, when wasting hours trying to fix something due to not having the right tools. :biglaugh:

30.0000, 0030.00... I am thinking you meant $3000.00 I wouldn't sale your car for less than $8,000 yours is awesome Nick! I actually wouldn't ever sale mine once it gets anywhere that nice. (y)
