Hello everyone. My son and I just picked up a 1974 Maverick Grabber with 72XXX original one family miles. This will be his first classic car. He's pretty excited. The car has the 6-cyl with an A/T. It is the white with gold/tan accents. The exterior will be a pretty straight forward restoration, however the interior has been mostly removed and quite a few of the pieces are long gone. So, we are going to need some advice: Who/where can we find interior parts from? The rear fuel fill wants to spit back the fuel as we try to fill it, no matter how slow or at what angle the nozzle is held. Any idea why? Where have folks been mounting their after-market stereos and speakers so as to not mess up the interior originality? Is there a certain make/model that lends itself to bucket seat transplants? Thanks again and we look forward to the support from this group, the information found here and driving a cool classic in the near future!

Alot of members here will be able to help you to obtain parts, another source is Autokrafters although in my opinion they tend to be pricey...(only my opinion and not meant to offend anyone)... as to your others questions I'll leave those to the experts here many of whom have restored several of these gems.

I paid 1600 for mine a week prior to the one you bought being listed...and its in a lot more need of restoration. As for the rest of the questions you asked here... read up.. lots of info here.
I loved that car, if you would of been just 1 hour later I would have been there with $1200 cash in hand.
It's a survivor for sure. The folks just before us had to "think about it". Can you imagine? Duh! Other than the interior needed help, it's almost rust free, and doesn't leak a single anything. The ET's are going on tonight.........
Yeah... it kills me that I got off work late that day. That car wasn't up for 14 hours before you bought it Least I gotta talk to the father/son who got it so there is that Is there a Spokane Comet/Maverick club? Seems to be enough of us around to form one if not... lol

Regarding stereo and bucket seat questions, I have tackled these lately and info is in my build thread.... hidden speakers http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=55560 There are also several good tech articles, so do a search and you will find a lot of helpful stuff. Spitting gas while fueling .... most of that comes from gas pumps being better/faster now than they used to be, and the filler necks on these not being able to keep up. I think a few folks swapped to a later unleaded neck and report an improvement. If you pump at half-open on the nozzle, you are usually OK ... just takes time. Interior parts .... mostly you will get these from other Mav guys. Not a lot of repop out there ... just stuff you can source made for other Fords that carried over, armrests, window cranks. One board member does make first class seat skins ... Fred Carillo (fmc56 if I am remembering his screen name right)
welcome i have seen others say how they think the northwest most be the storage lot for mavericks. and it is starting to look like it with all the recent posts from the Spokane area glad to have you along. since your so close let me know if i can try to help. PS if you want a real father son project i will trade you but your son better be 10 he may have it running by the time he gets his license. HA HA
