X2!!! And, I do the same on this forum. There's no need to express a negative opinion on someone's ride. Unless, of course, someone ASKS for opinions. Even then, there's no need to be harsh.
I've had Mustangs my whole life, including a '65 and a '66 GT-350, a Pantera, 2 Cobra kit cars, a tube framed ex-SCCA Trans Am mustang and a '65 fastback i used to run in GT-1, plus a bunch of Fox bodies.....Most of the guys i know that are into Mustangs love my Maverick....
All the mustang guys I run into love my car. I was working on it on the street on the first sunny day of the year and spent probably 1/2 the day talking to various car guys who would drive past stop and back up. One guy said when he finished the Shelby he was working on he wanted to do a Comet after getting a really good look at mine. In retrospect working on your car 5 blocks away from a garage that specializes in Classic cars isn't a good way to get any actual work done.
Im a Maverick guy, a fox body guy (93 stang) and a late model guy (11 stang). Most the dtang guys I hang with are real cool about the maverick. and most of the shows I go to I get good feedback form the other stang guys. But the guys with the big money cars and the guys that bought not built their cars think there cars are the hottest **** and nothing else matters. these are the guys that dont leave their cars to look at anything else. Its like they arent even there to enjoy the show, just to show off. These are the cars I walk right by without a second glance cause its just another catalog built mustang.
All the negatives and snide remarks I've ever gotten about my Mavericks/Comets over the years usually come from one of 4 groups; Jacked up 4x4 guys Chevy (Chevelle in particular) guys Galaxie guys (weird huh?) And of course the import crowd. But most of them that pick at the Mav usually hate all domestic cars anyway, so at least the Mav's not singled out.
.... you guys just don't get it... look up the word maverick. http://www.developing-leadership.com/definition-of-a-maverick.html Liked this windy explanations the best.. There are shorter...but I am a Maverick so .. I will just blaze my own path on this one
I like being the only Mav at a cruise in also. You can build a Chevelle or a Mustang or a Camero from the ground up with new partts, I'm not impressed by them. It's the unique cars that catch my eye, like our Mavericks. Saw a restored Gremiln a few years ago, loved it! Know what I mean? It takes a lot of work to build our cars and keep them beautiful.
I don't care if a car is rare, common, or a bicycle. I admire the work, and pride people take in what they own. There will always be a jerk, in anything you do.. Or a group of them...as only they can stand each others negativity
Everyone trys to be above someone else. When I was a kid growning up in the housing projects, we looked down on "trailer trash." Go figure, project rat make fun of someone that owned their home.
I dont think your car is good example. I mean that in a good way. I bet you can take a guy that hates mavericks and he'll still like yours. Your cars build direction overshadows the make and model.
All the Mustang guys I know love the Maverick. Hell, even most of the import guys I know like the car. Most people that notice the car day to day at gas stations or whatever are overwhelmingly positive about it. For me, it's generally other MAVERICK owners that pick at the car the most. I find time and time again that I can hear more negativity towards my car in one day being around other Maverick owners then I hear from the general public in 6 months+ driving the car every day... :16suspect as if I don't know the paint sucks, the interior is worn out, and it has bondo and rust here and there... But generally speaking, I really just don't care what anyone thinks. I like the car, I enjoy driving it every day, and that's all that really matters to me.
Like ive told you in the past, i really respect that you use your car i wish i could get in mine and really enjoy it like you get to daily.
