Looking for pics and info from any who have done this. I'm trying to install bucket seats in my car and was going to remove the E-brake mechanism on the drivers side tunnel/floorpan. I'm going to 5-speed so I have to keep an E-brake but I wanted to know if you used the stock set under the car or if it connected differently.

I cut the tunnel section out of a 90 Mustang with the e-brake for mine but I have not installed it yet, but that's the plan.

I havent dont it yet but the only ebrake handle Ive seen that I like and will do eventually is the Lokar handle. Will need to figure out the cables but I think the Mustang fox body drum cable will work just fine. Similar length and they come up to the trans hump where you will mount the handle in the maverick. a future project i will try.

Put it in. You can have cables made.

Having things made costs money I dont like to spend. Im sure I can put something togethor using original parts from things. Ive looked at the cables on my mustang and the cables on the maverick. I think I can put the two togethor with the Lokar handle without having to do any custom work.

But this wont be done anytime soon. I got some other things to work on with the Mustanfg and need to figure out why the maverick ignition died last week.

Or you could use a mustang II or pinto setup and more then likely work cables and all

I had a Suzuki Sidekick as a daily driver for a long while, and it had a manual transmission. The floor-mounted parking brake next to the shifter was quite good ... worked well, and was a big part of driving that thing.

Not a lot of hills in Florida, but even so, it became a regular part of how I drove that thing away from a dead stop frequently.... leave the shifter in first, hold it with the brake, gently launch off the clutch and an easy release the brake at the same time ... you could putt away from a stop so smoothly, a passenger might think it was an automatic. I am a big fan of having the e-brake there.

Other than that, that Suzuki was a piece of inherited cr@p ... :bouncy: ... I almost miss it ...

Thanks everybody. I was leaning towards the Lokar pc. but after reading the article that Jeff linked I'm thinking I need to check out the mustang route. My car is using the mustang steve kit with the 94-04 cobra rear calipers, so now I'm thinking that I might be able to use the handle and cables from one of those and not have to modify anything, except for installation.

The Lokar handle and boot is a much cleaner and simpler installation then any Mustang handle. Just look at the mounting tabs on the mustang stuff. Unless you have a console to put it in the it will be a mess I think. You can still use the mustang cables with the Lokar handle Im pretty sure.
