Yup, that was what the original 1972 garage door on our house was ... one piece door for a two car garage. When it let go .... BOOM!!!! It was bad having it fail, but actually turned out lucky. I snuck in under the deadline for a new building code that req'd a 140 mph-rated door. Got a 120 mph-rated segmented door (on clearance ... whoo-hoo) .... the difference .... this one still had windows at the top. Makes the garage a wonderful place to hang out with the door still down. If you wanted window in the higher rating, they had to be polycarbonate instead of glass, and DOUBLED the price of the door.
Went back to http://home.bresnan.net/~dazed/drop ... and here he shows his own version of a coil spring compressor. Looks very safe and traps the spring to the car. You can crank on it and have your body out of the way.
Changed out my coil springs today for the first time ever. I was scared for my life the whole time hahahaha
Unfortunatly After getting my Maverick back on the ground i have found that it sits way to high in the front now try to do it right and this is what i get! So i will be removing them so i can cut a coil out, Back to square one!
