I was reading a post from a few years ago about converting a column shifter to a floor shifter and some one mentioned you need to lock out the column shift linkage so it does not lock the steering wheel while your driving. can some one enlighten me on how do you do this?

I disassembled the column and removed all of the old shifter parts. Grind and body filler the shift lever hole and no one knows there was ever a column shifter. This was a manual trans shifter.

I made a simple metal strap that bolts to the original linkage hole on one end, and to the master cylinder mounting bolt on the other end. Painted it black, and you never notice it....
