And he sends you back these. What am I supposed to do with these? Gold plate and hang them on the wall, chrome them and put them on a show car some day?....... I guess I'll have to paint and run them since I don't have the time or money to get another set. Steven Moore(CometGT1974) of MDS Motorsports did this super job. Spherical bearings instead of a bushing and boxed with bead rolls for strength and he is doing a bronzed bushed spring mounts and spherical strut rod bushings, more pics as I receive the parts.
I don't know if he is selling these, I sent him my new ones and he performed the magic. I think I'm kind of test subject, I hope I'm not talking out of turn but I think he is sampling whether or not there would be enough intrest for him to make more of the bushing kits. Hopefully he will show up and answer the difficult questions. Dave, I'm glad you took me off your ignore list, see what you would have missed. Besides its no fun taking a shot if it doesn't hit the mark.
Very, very nice! To bad he didn't have them for sale a couple of months ago and would have bought his instead of the Global West lower control arms and strut rods. The main reason I went with the spherical bushings was to free up the front end and see if I can't get a little quicker weight transfer to the rear at launch. The Global West use spherical bushings and 3/4 Rod End Bearings.
Thanks Ward! I can do this conversion for anyone interested but it will be on a first come, first served basis and one customer at a time. I will be doing these along w/ my day to day business so I don't want to take on too much and not get it done in a reasonable amount of time. Everything is made in my shop and I TIG weld everything. I can modify your existing control arms (both upper and lower), the lowers will get a spherical bearing and the uppers will be a greaseable bearing bronze. I can do the perches also w/ greaseable bearing bronze. (roller bearings are not the correct application for the spring perches) I am also designing, bolt in spherical bearings for the strut rods that utilize the stock strut rods. If anyone is interested you can PM me what you want and we can work out the details. P.S. I can also do the low friction ball joint conversion w/ screw in ball joints.
Those really look good. Beautiful welds, great fab/modification job. Very nice. you obviously take pride in your work CometGT.
I am not at that stage yet, but the strut rods and spring perches sound interesting. I put a polygraphite bushing kit in a long while ago, and snapped a strut rod going over a speed bump.... def not a good application for those from what I know now. Curious why you prefer the bronze in the spring perches? Been listening to a lot of chatter about roller bearings and guys preaching that. Looks like a ton of work too. Interested in your take on it.
Roller bearings are for high speed applications and continuous motion. IMO, they are not ideal for that application.
