    It goes under the spare tire. I have only seen this on a 1970.

    Goes over the gas tank. A 70 had a drop in gas tank that was installed in the trunk.

    Not over the gas tank. The hole in the middle of that board goes over the "hook" welded to the trunk floor for the J-hook for the spare tire to "hook" to.

    Was this another half year thing? My late build '70 didn't have that but it did have original spare and jack. Would have thought if it came with one it would still be there.

    No carpet in the trunk. There is a speckled vinyl mat on top of the gas tank and the rest of the trunk is spatter paint.

    Not to shoot someone out of a sale but why not just make it yourself? Didn't check the shipping price but guessing $5 - $7 dollars. It's not something that is that complicated to make yourself. Just get the material and make some simple cuts. Heck, i could do it and I'm not nearly as good as 99.9% of the folks here at restoring/repairing ... looks like carpentry work to me, which i DO understand...

    Sorry, wasn't trying to imply you couldn't or wouldn't make it yourself, just sort of wondering I guess in a round about way if he's really selling any of those. When I said "yourself" didn't really mean you in particular smegnl, just "you (including me!) in general.
