    I was curious if anyone knows of a gear shifter that has a built in clutch lever? That way there's no clutch pedal on the floor. Hopefully you guys understand what im referring to, if not I will draw one up.

    I have a friend who lost his left leg, and loves a std shift car. Very interested in this.

    Actually not that hard to set up with a hydraulic conversion. You just need an electronically actuated hydraulic system instead of mechanically. Basic parts you can buy at any hydraulic supply.

    You would also want it to have an adjustable return so that you could get the launches smoothed out. You wouldn't want it to come off the clutch too fast.

    I don't know of anyone making a gearshift mounted clutch, but Smith from PDX has an interesting idea, hydraulic would be a lot easier than manual mechanical unit............unless you've got a soft/light spring setup in the clutch..................if not your right arm would have to look like Popeye's because overcoming the mechanical advantage (unless you had someway to reduce the pressure by 4/5 times)(maybe if you had a long lever, you could overcome the clutch) would be hard to do................plus, shifting and clutching at the same time with one had is going to be a little difficult..........I would think.
    This is what I was thinking about, a seperate lever with a cable;

    You would have to spend a lot of time as a bachelor to have enough grip strength to pull back that clutch 4 times.

    I've looked everywhere online and cant find a gear shift with clutch together. I think I found a product I could create, then market and could help tons of people who have dissabilities, but enjoy driving a standard. :idea:

    Well, I could design a system if someone wants to actually try and make it.

    I've set up many electrically controlled pushrod's. Was actually considering it for my own car some day, so I'd love to convince someone else to be the tester.

    FYI I have a degree in Industrial Automation which involves stuff like hydraulic control system design. SO I could legitimately design you a system.

    I'd say create a shifter with 1 electric button, when it's pressed a motor of some sort pushes the required amount of hydraulic fluid to the clutch. Im thinking of going from an auto to a standard, but my left foot is lazy sometimes and doesnt work as good as my right. Thats why I was kinda curious if these were even sold. This would make a standard even easier for people and still enjoyable.

    Interesting as I have spent most of my life selling industrial automation and originally came from Portland and have a mechanical engineering degree although I am now retired. Who do you work for currently?

    Just curious.

    Look at their patents and design yours not the same way.

    Olerodder: I just finished my degree in 2010. I could extoll my virtues for forever but to sum it up- I started learning to work on industrial machinery when I was 8. I then spent quite a few years becoming a Journeyman BookBinder, gave that up and went to school for the natural fit in Idustrial Auomation. Now I'm working at a circuit board manufacturer doing documentation, because I'm very lacking in the electronics half of my degree as far as work experience, and tough to find a job.

    I do alot of work on HA Vehicles. They make a pnumatic setup for Paras who ride Harleys. I would check on HA vehicle accessories. My wifes Van has a Magnetic assist on the brakes that is hand operated. What about a twist grip throttle/ shifter, like a UH-1 collective lever and keep the foot clutch.
