Police said they nailed 9 cars in a 3 mile radius same night. I dunno why...just hoping they catch who did it.
never had anyone mess with mine, drove it daily for four years straight. im switching over to classic car insurance soon anyway, that way if vandals hit it i will have money to have it fixed or replaced.
Especially if you know someone that works at the stealership..... In the 70's it was pretty common, these days not so much. I doubt most guys working the parts counter could even work a key cutter.
The key machine to cut a key from a code in a book, is entirely different than a duplicating machine seen in a store...
most late model cars are also chipped so you cant start the car even if you opened it, so yes you can get a key cut if you know someone there but the car still will not start for you with that brand new key at the last 4 dealers I have worked at (all GM) they required, ether title or registration on top of the licence to prove ownership, insurance does not prove ownership because anyone can insure any car.
most newer cars require cut key than at least $100 or more to code key to vehicle. If cut not coded key is used to start car system will lock out all keys coded or not and it's bring c/card to unlock system. My work has a stake bed that it happened to.
