Sorry to hear about your car! regarding the starter I just replaced mine last week,on a 302 it was really easy, 5 min to jack the car up, 5 min to get the starter out, only 2 bolts, $29.99 later at auto zone and I was back in action!

$74.99 for starter autozone, and then had to buy a flywheel/flexplate. $16.99

Wonder if I have to pull the transmission to replace the flexplate.

Windows, get replaced tomorrow... except for windshield as the company they told me to take it to doesn't have one in stock. They are confident they have the rest though, we shall see.

Hoping I can get the flex plate in quickly..as a big storm is coming in by 3pm

You will have to pull the trans to replace the flexplate, and the torque converter too.

correction on my post,I bought my starter at O rileys and it was only$29.99,you might want to call around for a better price, perhaps the price you were quoted was for new and the one I bought was re-built or something, what makes you think the flex plate is bad? is there teeth missing in a certain spot or something? in my case when the starter went out it stayed engaged with the ring gear and completely locked up the motor, it couldnt be turned over even with a breaker bar, however it was as simple as removing it and slapping in a new one...good luck but make sure your ring gear is really bad before you tear in to it, thats a lot of work to replace it, perhaps you could try installing the new starter first and see what happens? Terry PS dont forget to check all your battery cables and electrical connections, battery level ect...

Yeah missing teeth and metal shavings fell out when I took of starter.
Got $18 back for core charge for starter. Replaced battery cables, ignition cables, spark plugs while I was at it fires right up now :yahoo:
1971 2 door 200 cid so 3.3. I saw some one asked. Yeah, I got glass replaced except windshield today, they called asking if I would come in early. Still waiting on windshield, which was least broken of all windows.. just cracked with a ding spot right in the middle..

State farm replaced my windows and tires.
Still waiting on windshield to come in, the auto body shop had to special order it. Thinking of going Hagarty for insurance.
Hear from members that they are the way to go.
No window seals by the way, would have to shell out $400 to replace, no sense doing that till I get the car sanded and repainted.
    -$500 deductible ...so wasn't cheap.

Do you mean they are replacing your windshield and back glass using the old seals? or are they using urethane sealer to put them back in? I hope the answers are no on both questions!
:eek3: I paid less than $120.00 for both the front and rear glass rubber gaskets.

They were going to use the dried rotted ones, so I took in the seals I bought and they wont fit.
As its not covered under the vandalism, Statefarm refused to replace dry rotted seals. So I got the windshield and put it in my fathers garage.
The back glass they already put in with the old seal.
Will be buying the correct seals as the stuff I bought awhile back doesn't fit correctly.
Couldn't buy the seals right now, so figured I will get them when I am done with body and paint.

Specially when I am out $500 for deductible.
But yeah other than taking them to small claims no clue how you can make them do anything.

Yeah..didn't make sense to me either. I have had statefarm since I got my dl.. and never filed a claim..god only knows how much money they pocketed..but they screw me over on seals... due to the shop saying they were dry rotted...what that has to do with replacing windows is beyond me.. I thinking about cancelling insurance on the thing since I can't drive it anyway. Or switching insurance... as that really bothers me.
