And a jet kit, and a rod kit, and maybe a spring kit... Ever notice that Vic Edelbrock runs Holleys on his personal muscle cars? Hmmm.
I like the gold color of the Holley and I like the shineyness of the Edelbrock. Those are my determining issues
Dirt yes, weather ? No. That's the points ignition that caused that. Mine run the same, day in, day out no matter the weather.
You beat me to it. Quadrajet and an Edelbrock are two different animals, the only thing they share in common is their (needless)complexity.
Gee, you sure got taken (on several accounts) Holley jet kit is $52 at Summit. Even all you needed was a couple different sizes bought for $10 at the local parts house, that and the knowledge f how to read your spark plugs. I'm not scared of either of those complex carbs, I just have the god given common sense of not starting a loosing battle in the first place.
I love it when the Eduuuhlbrock lovers come out and state their personal opinion as "FACT." Yes, they are. Unless you get a Pontiac guy to set it up for you. No, it is not. No, it does not. If you have to go more than 4 jet sizes either way you have the wrong carb. And I have NEVER had to change the a-c-c-e-l-e-r-a-t-o-r pump spring. Ever.
Well, I don't know about you but iv ran old junk and fooled with a lot of old cars and iv ran both and that pretty much sums up my experience and I don't even own an edelbrock carb.
Don`t get me wrong, I`m not a fan of Edelbrock carbs, I wasted my money on one, only to sell it to some guy with a Corvette, for half the price, I was just glad to get rid of it.
Yep, we were not all gifted with new cars when we were young. Some of us had to build and drive what we had or could build.
Get down off the cross, man. Someone could use the wood. Many of us here did the same. I turned a $300 '71 Mustang into an 11-second street car over a summer with my own money at age 16 so don't feel like the Lone Ranger. Not our fault you can't tune a Holley.
