the guys on the show fast an loud on discovery channel came across a maverick on the show tonight....the car got almost thirty seconds of air time but it was still cool...thats something i wish the restoration/hot rod shows on tv did more of...its always a mustang or something..why not restore a maverick or comet for a change..
That's a gud idea. Maybe, if we passed along to the networks our intrest/concerns abt seeing the same cars all the time. They wud be more inclined to "thinkin outside the box", so to speak. It has to be done in numbers; that's the only thing networks, sponsors, politicians, etc., understand and respond too. JMO....
true true that...they may have to actually build a car rather than buyin all new stuff and assembling a car...
Lack of familiarity and cost are the limiting factors...We could do a resto like you see on tv but...We are familliar with the cars. These guys you see on tv are top notch but...They stick to what they know given the time constraints of a network production...The pitfalls and ways around certain problems associated with a Mav/Comet are not common knowledge to some builders. They can overcome those problems but not as quickly as we can...
Pete -- this statement makes a lot of sense. I never thought in terms of production and having common knowledge wud alter the scenario to a great degree. But I wud also think they cud find someone who does have the knowledge and spread the programming out to fit the build. They wud have to find a gud car to start with and work from there. There has to be enough motivation, interest and sponsorship to get it off the ground...
Car craft has tossed the idea around many times over the last few years. Some of it in print but...Its just not mainstream enough for the readship or network viewers...Lets face it man...We are a minority in the world of car culture. I would love to see Chip foose and his overhualing crew do one up right...Can you imagine a big network type shmoozing someone on the forum to be a technical consultant for a Mav build...Wait...That would be pretty cool actually...
Chip Foose is a very creative person but i dont always agree with what he does to a persons pride and joy! All im saying is i have a vision in my mind of how my Maverick will look and if he took it and made the way he thought would fit me just by talking to friends and family i would be disappointed because they dont know everything i want not to mention i enjoy doing the work myself!
Preach it brother! I rarely like what he has done myself actually.. Usually I see others actually doing the work at that.
if one of our car hit the air to be built they would become popular (think of how many people look at our cars and say i had one along time ago).. so they would make more repops on stuff would make it better in one way...but thats what i like about our car u just dont find one everyday
PIMP FOOL is a premadonna, chevy guy, I can see it in his paint jobs. Always the same camaro lines. If he ever stole my car, Id punch him out and sue him. Makes you wonder if the victim had no prior knowlege. Big Lawsuit if it wasnt staged. Just Sayin. You dont really believe that S#!ti do you? Impersonateing Lawinforcement is a Felony.
let's see...they do all the body work, wheels, tires, bumpers, every thing inside, suspension, sound system, motor and transmission...I can see where that could pi$$ a guy off... if you don't like the color...you are just out for paint...
There's another show that I like a little better actually. I think it's called desert car kings or something like that. It's about a father and son who own a 100 acre junk yard in the desert. They take cars and do quick restorations and auction them off. I actually enjoy the show because the people in it seem like nice people. Plus I did see a maverick in the yard!
I saw 2 episodes of that last week. They do some pretty shoddy work, but it is entertaining. I like Wheeler Dealers and Graveyard Carz. The receptionist in Graveyard Carz is hoooooootttttt!
