No way! Never had a red stripe on any of them nor the gloss black.

Not much of a mystery, you'll find lots of people that think they know, but don't really.

I'm in the process of painting one. I've pretty much decided to go back with satin black too. I'm also parting out a yellow/black Stallion. Crying shame but just way too rusty.

Right color, just the wrong shade! :biglaugh:
They do look good shiney, but from the factory they were satin. I think the shiney is a nice inprovement. Who wants a concours correct Maverick, anyway? :rofl2:

My dad was working at Jenkins & Wynne Ford in the 70s and he told me the first Stallion that came in was sent to the body shop to get buffed. The new car mgr had no idea it was supposed to be flat. They couldn't get a shine so they repainted the black portion gloss under a warranty claim. They didn't realize their mistake till the second Stallion arrived.

The question is did they sell it that way.....I run across this kind of stuff all the time when working on vintage sleds......so someone might have bought a stallion from the dealership with gloss paint...interesting..:hmmm:j

Yes they sold it that way. A boy I went to high school with ended up with it from his mom as a first car. It was red and black. It was already pretty rough by then. He ended up wrecking it.
