The Comet started life as a I6 C4 combo and i dropped in a 347 T5 a while back. As the engine sat i swapped out the old alt for a newer 3G and swapped the battery to the trunk with a battery cut off switch. I took out the old wiring harness and painted the engine compartment then reinstalled the harness which is now connected. I cant get the engine to crank over or even get it to click.

The 3G main wire is connected to the cut off switch (same side as the + batt cable) with a 175 amp fuse. The other side of the cut off switch is connected to the solenoid on the apron where the old batt cable went. The starter (smaller late model) main cable is also connected here with the other side of the solenoid going to the smaller stud to the starter. The red and green (RG) wire is hooked up to the I on and the red and blue (RB) is attached to the S.

When i turn the ignition to the on position the starter solenoid on the starter clicks. I removed the smaller wires going to the apron solenoid. I left the ignition on the on position and touched the RG to the S stud and had power going through. It probably sounds clear as mud but i figured i'd try the forum to see if anybody had any of the same issues. Thanks

do you have a good ground cable going from the motor to the body of the car?
did you clean the paint from under the ground cable connections if you have the ground cable?

sounds like the starter motor is bad.

one last thought, what is the battery voltage when the key is in the start postion at the starter?

I got a new battery and it ended up being the neutral safety switch needing a switched 12v source. I connected the old harness to the wiring and connected one of the wires to the starter solenoid.
