Ground issue. When the socket isn't grounded and the light still flashes, it's grounding back through the tail light side.

Somewhere, you have a ground issue. Could be front lights, could be in the rear.

That's why I have ground wires from each tail light housing to the body at the back.

Just got home and was thinking about see if there was any current bleeding from the socket with a meter tomorrow. Should your side marker lights be flashing, both of mine do ?

Some cars do, some don't. I don't remember the exact details.

No, side marker lights on a Maverick do not flash. Another indication that you have a bad ground somewhere, the T/S is using the running lights for it's ground.

Unplug your front T/S on each side, do not take out the bulb, just unplug it at the plug, and see if the rears flash normaly. I had a front light short out in the wiring, and it was doing something simular. I replaced it with another one and everything started working fine....

Actually.....they DO flash. We talked about it on here before. Maybe it was on the old, old message board.

I replaced the 2 outside sockets (the originals) and the blinkers work nice and slow. But the 2 side marker lights flash too, which I'm OK with. Thanks again for all the help Rick

Well Craig, now you've got me thinking I have a problem! Well, maybe I do, but I'm talking about the car.:D

Mine do not flash! Never have, as long as I've owned the car. Front and rear work fine, but side markers glow, not flash at any time!

    Maybe some were wired different?:hmmm:

One time, comparing my 70's side markers to a friend's 72 we found that my markers always flashed at the same time as the front and rears. His worked the same way when the headlights were off. Turn on the headlights and his side markers flashed on when the front and rears were off. Strange...
