This came from somewhere on the drivers side interior, possibly under the kick panel. It fell apart when I pulled the wire connector from it and I forgot about it until now. What is it? Do I need it? Where can I get one? Thanks a million!
Oh crap, I've exceeded my storage limit for attachments! Oh well, it has a three wire plug that connects to it. Hopefully the description is good enough.
Maybe this will work? http://robbinsvillehotrods.com/simp....php?action=dlattach;topic=2809.0;attach=4952
What is a voltage relay? Why do the sport lamps need that? Are these available anywhere? And thanks for posting the picture!
Its just a relay and yes its needed. It prevents drawing excess current through the light switch and tripping out the internal circuit breaker. Any auto parts store carries relays. Anything over 10 amp rating will work just fine.
If you want an NOS one - here is one on ebay right now http://www.ebay.com/itm/71-72-Maver...Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f191825ab&vxp=mtr
Also note that not all Grabbers had that relay. For cars without it, the sport lamp wire goes straight through the bulkhead connector to the front of the car. My 71 did not have it (confused the heck out of me for a while), but I plan on installing one under the hood. The lamps do draw a good deal of current.
They are a plain old 1157 (you can use clear or amber) taillight / brakelight bulb. They (meaning the sportlamps) are wired so both filaments burn to get the most candlepower out of the bulb. Glad you got the one on ebay ....... nothing like having NOS parts ......
