Webrodder and Fatman fabrications has an article on coil over 1970, and up Maverick front suspentions . The article is in this months, Mustangs and Fast Fords . Web Rodder says to use 15 inch wheels ,the strut is mustang based. Is this a good cheap set up ?
http://www.webrodder.com/index.php?page=listProducts&CID=11&pageNum=$page#223 Looks like the same pictures that was in MM&F last month, no mention of the Maverick kit on the Fat Man Fabrication site, or their current ad in this months MM&F. I would hope they know enough, to assume that if it fit a Mustang, it won't fit a Maverick. In the September 2012, of MM&F, their ad quotes the kit at $1995 (1965-73 Mustang, 63-73 Falcon, Fairlane, Torino & Mercury), the picture shows it without the struts, rack, and brakes.. I sure hope they made it to fit our cars, that would be pretty cool!
My question would be for a street driven vehicle what advantages would be having this over the stock set-up, or in simple terms, assuming this set-up is $2k plus, can any advantage this might give over the stock set-up be worth the $2k plus?
for that kind of price i'm pretty sure your gonna be getting close to being in the price range of a mustang 2 set up where you can make your towers go bye bye
Webrodder Says it helps on headers and bigger wheels. Note the struts can come from mustangs. A friend of mine says you could use 1988 Ranger spindals on the maverick is this so?
Rangers use I beam suspension the spindle wont work even if you could make it work they only have 10" discs at that point your better off with drums
Here's a link to a post I had earlier with a scan of the ad. http://www.maverick.to/mmb/showpost.php?p=890984&postcount=1
'98 and up Rangers use control arms with the springs between the frame and lower arm. Here's mine when we dropped it.
Correct but the 88 he referanced is a I beam truck. Either way i highly highly doubt the spindles will swap
Nope. I wouldn't venture a guess about the suspension - I was just pointing out that the Ranger lost the Twin-I beams in 1998. Thanks for the compliment. Bruce
