I have a '71 Maverick with a 200 6. What changes and improvements can I make to a stock engine for performance and improved mileage. It does have a C4 tranny. Any suggestions, I'll look into and see what I can do. Right now, it runs like a clock, but I just want to "spruce" it up a bit. Thanks everybody!
An electronic ignition is always a good place to start. Headers would be a good mod for performance and mpg's. Rising the compression ratio will also increase power and mileage if you don't mind running higher octane fuel. Also adding a 2bbl would probably help.
"Right now, it runs like a clock" leave it ...as is...you will spend a whole lot of $$$$$ for a...very little gain...
I just converted to Pertronix electronic ignition and a Weber 2 bbl carb from Classic Inlines on my sons car. The car runs much better and gets better mileage. Everything that we did is bolt on so no permanent modifications were made. All the stock parts are labeled and boxed up. Made the car more driveable for my son.
Which electronic ignition kit should I go with? Any suggestions for a 2 BBL Carb? Dual exhaust suggestions? Make and manufacturer? Thanks Fellas, and Gals if you're out there.
I went with a pertronix ignitor II kit as I did not want to pull the distributor. The Carb is a Weber 32/36 dgv Carb and planning on putting a header and duals on next. The pertronix stuff can be purchased from autokrafters or just about anywhere. I strongly recommend classic in lines for the rest
