Bought a reverse lamp switch on Ebay, was suppose to be NOS. You tell me, would you accept this crap…… That's the third time on Ebay I've had problems… I'm about ready to never ever buy or sell there again…..
I've always said, the reason some of the parts are "NOS" is because they were broken, or use to test something, then put back on a shelf at a dealership, only to sit there for years...I worked in parts at a Ford/Mercury dealer in the late 80's..We'd even get damaged parts in from Ford, stuff that other dealers would send back. The supply of NOS stuff is starting to dry up.
That might be true but the seller does not have the right to sell broken parts as new. It's unethical to purport what your selling as new, knowing the part is broken. There is no justification, all the seller had to do was describe the part accurately. He did not, so therefore he lied. It's as simple as that.
yuo can't blame this on the sellers unless they new it was new, I bought some NOS mopar stuff from one of the top seller in the county. When I opene the box it had a RMA slip that the seller must have missed. If it was not for me paying by CC I would have gotten stuck with the part. They had the balls to say that put the RMA in the box.
I doubt the seller even knew the clips were broken, if the part works, a zip tie will take care of the problem . If not get your money back.
It has nothing to do with ebay. Same thing can happen at swap meets, sales on the message board, etc. I agree, the part is broke and should have been noted in the auction. But if it works, you should not have any problems with the plugs coming apart.
Yes I can, the seller has the responsibility to know what they are selling period. I have inspected everything I have ever sold. Its either deceit or apathy, either way, it's unacceptable.
Except at the swap meet I can open the box look at the part and ask why the part is broken. The seller took that opportunity away from me by not disclosing the condition of the item.
If he's not responding and doesn't make it right, give him a bad rating so others will be warned. I pay close attention to a seller's rating and have given a couple of bad ones in the past. Ebay/PayPal made it right when I had a problem.
Just the pic of the box, I try to trust that people are telling truth. Now I'm kind of stuck, I can send it back but that's a hassle. I can plug it in to see if it fixes my problem. If it doesn’t, I can't be sure the part was good to begin with. I don't want somebody else to get a crap part because if the seller treated me this way, he'll treat somebody else the same way. It's not a lot of money so why pass on the problem to another Maverick / Comet owner, it's the principle of the thing. I think I'll just keep the part, leave negative feedback and call it a day. If I have to buy another one, so be it.
