Thanks Dave! As a temp fix- will "lucas Power steering stop leak" work? I have no idea how stuff like that could be good for a car, but I figured I'd ask.
Do not put in stop leak....it is a band-aid fix that will eventually make more leaks! It makes all the seals swell and when they dry out you'll have many more leaks.
So looking at it, I need to order one pressure hose and one return hose, correct? And since It's on the same side as the resevoir, I should get the shorter length hoses? http://www.autokrafters.com/v4/go.g...products&show_product_id=481591&product=31351
Before you go off ordering a bunch of parts, you need to verify where the leak is. What year is this car? Certain years of Mavericks had o-ring fittings on the hose and if that is the case, 25 cents could fix the problem.
You can get the Hoses from Autozone, Oreillys, Advance Auto. Usually with a lifetime warranty. Besides the pressure and return hoses there are 2 hoses for the control valve to the power assist cylinder. These two small hoses are the two you dont want to mix up. Other potential leaks are the control valve itself and the cylinder. I would suggest taking the car to a car wash and do a good degrease and pressure wash underneath and then see where the leak is coming from. Plus youd have a much cleaner and easier job working on it.
I was thinking the same thing first stop the car wash. get rid of all of the fluid and grime you can then start fixing whats leaking. I remember looking at that car on craigslist. I thought that door was worse than that by the dark pics he showed. I remember the seller saying the door wasnt cracked but only scratched or a bad pic. looks MUCH nicer in your pics. does it have a v8? I forgot. if it does the exhaust leak is most likely just an exhaust manifold gasket. I live 5 minutes from autozone and Im in there so much everyone in there knows me by name and a few of the guys have my phone number burned into there brain they hear it so much lol. thats obviously where I get most of my parts. theyre usually pretty cheap. and for every four or five $20 purchases you make you get a reward of $20 cash or credit. I have $280 on my rewards card. Im trying to save for an aluminum radiator
Thanks to both of you! I'll try to get it washed Sunday and then check it. And FYI Junrai it's an I6. That door doesn't look bad in the pics but it is pretty much unrepairable. Joe Dirt said he'd help me fix the door so I'll make the drive over his way sometime soon. Now to just find someone who'll help me put in an engine haha. Thanks for all the input folks- y'all have been great!
