Nice job! I'm at the finishing stage of my wiring mods ao I know how damn time consuming it is. Where did you get the nifty tools for removing the pins from the plugs? And I first apolagize for sidetrackin but I also have one of those wiper delay setups but when I try to install it the shaft is too short and the knob won't stay on. Anybody know what the problem could be?

I used the headlight repair knob from the HELP section.

So you had the same problem with the intermittent switch Jeff? There is nothin wrong with my knob, it works fine with the original switch which has a longer shaft.

the "self help" knob comes on a longer shaft...:yup: then you have 2 different knobs. I went to a big truck assy. shop and got me a pair of knobs that matched...(y)

The knob from the HELP section uses a set screw instead of the internal clip. You just need the knob and not the shaft that comes in the repair kit.

It's just so odd. I put a delay setup on my 75 maverick back in the day and I didn't have this problem. That one may have actually come out of a maverick though. Does the knob from the help rack match the original knob?

The knob is all chrome. You can buy 2 kits and have a match

Does the 72-down Mav have the same bezel as the 73-up Mav?

I think the 73 and up have the bezel behind the switch knob. I don't know if its thicker than just the retainer and spacer (70-72) but my stock Maverick knob attached directly to the switch shaft, no problem. I use an 89 Bronco switch, if it makes any difference.

Yup the switch is the same.

Now just so you are aware, the old jeeps had these too. Actually the wagoneers and the cherokees from the late 70's always had these and I have had an easier time finding them in those then the ford trucks, because they always get scavanged from the trucks.
The were made by Ford for AMC and they are plug and play with the ford setup too.

They look like this..see the difference,(this happens to be for a CJ) it has a different knob, shorter thread area and an AMC stamp on the govener box.

Well I'll have to look at mine again a little closer. I could have sworn it came out of a ford but I picked it out of a junk yard more than 20 years ago so who knows.

may not look it but made a lot of headway .... almost all the stock wire is back in, a lot of splices cleaned up, soldered most of the connections that needed soldering and next on the list is the solenoid/relay wiring, the accessory fuse panel wiring and running wires for the gauges...

So this fuse block should be too hard to wire up, it needs a relay right? I'll probably make this the switched one and then I have another one that will be the constant on. Well, the only thing I need on the constant on is the wireless door entry right?

I have a junction post on the driver's side kick panel which has a thick red wire coming from the + terminal of the battery. I was thinking of using that for the relay, that should be OK right?
