I drained most of the radiator of the 50/50 that is in there, added a bottle of RedLine Water Wetter, and topped off with Ozarka bottled water.

Idling in garage at 85 degrees, never got over 180, and took quite a while to get there.

Haven't had a chance to drive it yet.

Anyone else use any of these, and did you notice any difference?

Did you use spring water or drinking water?

    drinking from the big bottles.

But there is still a gallon or so of the 50/50 in there.

Why use bottled water? Seems expensive...I use Royal Purples stuff whatever it's called, but my car runs cool all the time.

I wouldn't think you need to worry about it much in Canada.

I used Ozarka because I had it, only had a gallon left in it, and I wanted to get rid of the bottle.

My car typically runs 180-185 even on the hottest days. But I figured 175-180 would be just as good, or better.

Hey Shadow, this weather is GREAT, isn't it? Man, I have been out in the garage and cleaning and rearranging everything. I can now get all three cars in there and not have the doors hitting each other. Nothing on the floor anymore. And best of all, DID NOT BREAK A SWEAT!!!

But the lovebugs are horrible on this side of the lake. How are they on your side?

I know Cummins diesels use something similar. It's to reduce cavitation caused by ultrasonic vibrations in the cylinder liners. I have no experience with it's use in gasoline engines, but It may be beneficial in them as well. I remember " water pump lubricant " that you could use in non freezing temperatures. It had rust preventatives also. I've always just been a firm believer in regular antifreeze mixed 50/50. :)

This stuff is supposed to work best with just water and the wetter. But instructions say to use at least 15% antifreeze in street applications.

I am probably running about 25-35% antifreeze right now. Which should be fine due to 1) I live in Texas, and temps are generally warm, and 2) I keep the car in the garage, and it will never get below 50 degrees or so in there, if that. Our garage doors are thick and insulated, and the garage is attached to a brick house, so it gets heated and cooled from the surrounding rooms.

I'm in Oklahoma redesigning a refinery. Weather up here is damned nice today. Front came through on Friday night and it was a bad sumbitch!!!! Not a lot of rain but we had 50 mph winds for over three hours. Definitely interesting.

Was home last weekend for the holiday. Had to change brakes on the truck and I had plenty of lovebugs as observers but those pricks didn't help out one damn bit. Buncha' losers. They were swarming the place. It was horrible.

We use the Royal Purple stuff in the race cars and in my '07 GT. Works like a charm. Redline stuff has always been pretty good in just about everything I've seen it used. Even with the extra 50/50 stuff in the radiator you should be fine.

It was in the high 90's, low 100's for most of the summer this year, plus traffic is traffic...

When I took the wife to Niagara Falls about 7 years ago, it was hotter there than it was in Texas!

So I know that Canada can get hot, but I was assuming that it was a fluke, and not a regular occurrence.

We didn't get the strong wind like they did up north, and no rain, but we have a 10 mph north wind blowing the humidity back out to the gulf. About 85 degrees, but very dry. I just used yard fogger to try to kill the bastards. Seems to have slowed them down, maybe got them a little drunk?

I had to use my car once when it was 24°! Yes, here in Fla.! With no heater!!! Anyway you should always have enough antifreeze for an unexpected chill! You may get stuck one day and have to take your car out of its nice warm garage! (y)

If it is running, it will keep itself warm enough to not freeze, as long as I don't park it outside for too long.
