    i just got a 74 comet and i know almost nothing about it except a couple things..about the car it has apperntly 525 cubic in engine in it and i m haveing a hard time finding parts cuz the dash is ruined the guy spray painted it black along with the gages so any help will be greatly appericated (y)

    A 302 was the only V8 available in any 71-77 Comet unless someone actually put a monster 525 engine in the car at one time but your car would have to have been carved up pretty good to get it to fit. I would double check those engine cubes. A picture would help us to see what engine you have. :tiphat:

    i m begining to think its a 429 thats been bored and stroke thats the info i m getting from my buddys for it to be a 525 cuz the transmission shifter is already backwards so its a different tranny in it

    that's a...reverse shift valve body...the tranny could be the stock one...:yup:

    ok now we re getting some where lol...so u think its possible that its a 429? i should have pics of it posted by tomorrow so u can give me a better idea and i ll get the block numbers also

    If it is truly a 525 cubic inch engine, boring and stroking a 429 to almost 100 more cubes seems a little extreme to me so my guess is the engine more than likely started life out as a 460.

    i owned a 460 one time out of a lincoln cont and it was huge..it dosnt compare in size to the one in the car
