I've owned and loved Mavericks and Comets for over 20 years, but it's funny how just when you think you know everything there is to know about these cars, suddenly you learn (or forget) something. For example I just learned from posts on this site that 69.5 Mavs had the key on the dash instead of the column. I actually knew this was true in Mustangs, but never really drawed the connection with Mavericks.

Now for my silly question. I have a set of Maverick Grabber quarter extensions and the matching rear spoiler. Will this fit properly on a Comet?. I'm trying to visualize all the Comet GT's I've seen over the years, but I can't honestly remember if they can use this set up. If you know, please help an aging mind. [IMG]

The Comets never came with the spoiler from the factory. It fits perfectly, after cutting
    holes in your trunk.

The taillight panel is different-for the Montego taillights used in the Comet.
The hood has more of a nose and dome. The grill is different following the
contour of the hood. The latch assembly support is different again for the hood
    difference.

The '71 & '72 Comet front bumper is unique to the Comets that debuted in 1971-following the 69.5 Maverick intro.
Starting in '73 the Comet used the same front bumper as the Maverick-the rocker
panels between the grill and bumper, as well as the base under the grill is different.
Other than that and emblems, and cosmetic touches, they are the same cars.

Yep, the Grabber spoiler will fit on a Comet as long as it's a 2 door. The Comet Gts never came with the spoilers, but they fit perfectly...

Comet GTs should have come with the rear spoiler just like Grabbers did. Notice how mid to late '70s Camaros & Firebirds had the same rear spoiler. It just makes sense since it's the same body. Ford really irritates me sometimes...

    Comet Spoiler

Thanks guys. I'm glad I wasn't loosing it after all. I just couldn't remember ever seeing a spoiler on a Comet, but it just sort of made sense it should have been an option.

If anyone has a photo of a Comet with a spoiler, please post it. I'm curious how it looks from behind with the alternate tail lights.
